How do we get started?
For the past 5 years, Dr. Franklin Torres always wanted to have a Deaf Indoor Soccer Tournament on the East Coast. Since there was no Deaf soccer tourney happening, Franklin decided the LDHHAMDC will plant the seed first by hosting the First Annual Deaf Friendship Indoor Soccer Tournament in Jessup, Maryland. Dr. Franklin decided to host International Deaf Soccer Tournament at Gallaudet University. Several deaf teams attended his first tournament, and the event was a great success for all teams involved.
The next year, Dr. Franklin organized another event in Jessup, Maryland. He hosted the First Annual Deaf Friendship Indoor Soccer Tournament. The tournament was even more successful with over 6 participating teams. The tournament was a wonderful way of welcoming everyone and having fun. Hopefully the deaf soccer teams on the West coast will be encouraged to host a regional tournament as well. This could result in having a national deaf soccer tournament! Hopefully by the end of this First Annual Deaf Friendship Indoor Soccer Tournament, a deaf soccer team from a different city will volunteer to host the next annual tournament. LDHHAMDC was sponsored by Viable and Sprint Relay. The First Annual Deaf Friendship Indoor Soccer Tournament will be held at the Soccerdome in Jessup, Maryland on November 17, 2007.
LDHHAMDC prides itself on organization and networking with the deaf teams, players, coaches and spectators involved in the annual soccer events and creating relationship with the coaches and staffs at Soccerdome.
